Hi. I'm excited to start writing my first blog post of the year. In general, I used to share something new or case studies about various serial killers, stalking, murders, and unresolved cases. This time, I would like to share something special about the month of January that we recognize across the world.
JANUARY
The 1st of January is celebrated as "New Year" across the world. But how many of us know that it is meant for celebrating "Global Family Day"?
What is Global Family Day?
The main motive of this auspicious day is to bring people all around the world together and spread peace among us. It helps to understand the truth that Earth is common to all and that we are all the same here, irrespective of caste, race, or religion. All kinds of discrimination should be completely banned. It is also known as a day of joy and thanksgiving. This, in turn, makes the world a better place to live in.
The 4th of January is memorialized as "World Braille Day."
I have already discussed about Louis Braille in one of my posts. He was the creator of Braille (a three-dot pattern used to represent an apostrophe, an accent mark (to pronounce a vowel), and to identify punctuation). It is highly beneficial for blind people to be educated and to gain knowledge, irrespective of their blindness. To commemorate his invention, his birthday (January 4) is observed as "Braille Day."

The 6th of January is honored as "World Day of War Orphans."
It is recognized in order to raise awareness about the sufferings and pain that children and individuals go through when they lose loved ones in a war. In addition, to alleviate (reduce) the trauma they endured over the years.
The 8th of January is cherished as “African National Congress Foundation Day.”
John Langalibalele Dube was a South African essayist, philosopher, educator, politician, publisher, editor, novelist, and poet. In 1935, he joined the All-African Convention (which advocates for the extension of citizenship rights to all South African groups). All his life, John fought for the unity and liberation of all Africans.
John played a major role in establishing the South African Native National Congress (SANNC) on January 8, 1912, in Bloemfontein. The purpose of this SANNC was to grant the right to vote to black and mixed-race Africans. Another motive was to bring all Africans together and fight for notable changes in their political, social, and economic states.
The 9th of January is remembered for two reasons:
NRI (non-resident Indian) Day or Pravasi Bharatiya Divas: The theme of the day is to respect the contribution of the Indian diaspora living abroad for various reasons.
What is the Diaspora?
People who involuntarily left their home country for foreign countries around the world. Some communities that fall into this category include: the removal of Jewish people from Judea; the removal of Africans from slavery; migration; expulsion (being forced to leave); and Syrian refugees.
Also, this day is celebrated for the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi to Mumbai in 1915 from South Africa.
Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti – He was known for his outstanding intellectual achievements (academic study, knowledge, or achievement). He was also a linguist (skilled in foreign languages) and familiar with Persian, Arabic, and Sanskrit as well as his mother tongue, Punjabi.
His most notable contribution was the establishment of the Khalsa, a Sikh military brotherhood. In Punjabi, Khalsa means "pure." It refers to both the community that includes Sikhism as a faith and the special group of practicing Sikhs. To honor him, this day is celebrated. He was the tenth and final personal guru of the Sikhs.
Word written on the sword of Gobind, “May God's protection rest on me. There is one God, and a true Guru, whom I worship.”
The 10th of January is celebrated for two reasons:
The first objective to celebrate was the day when the first world Hindi conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. The main aim of the conference was to promote Hindi throughout the world.
The second objective is the death anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was the second president of India after independence. He actively took part in the war for independence. He led many defiant campaigns against unjustified laws and boycotts. Because of that, he was imprisoned for seven years. He is also known as the man of peace. His slogan was "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan (whatever the farmer says)."
The 26th of January is special for two occasions:
The first, as we all know, is celebrated as Republic Day. After independence, a proper democratic form of government was implemented in 1950. The grandest parade is held in Rajpath, Delhi, every year on this day. This act replaced the Government of India Act 1935, and the nation became a republic separate from British rule.
The second is International Customs Day (ICD). This day is observed by custom organization to recognize the involvement of customs agents and other officials who fight for security at the border. It also focuses on the difficulties and suffering faced by the customs officers in their different working environments.
The 28th of January is known for Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai.
He was born in Punjab, India, in 1865. He was well known for his non-stop support in the war for independence. He was also called "Punjab Kesari (Lion of the Punjab)." He played a vital role in supervising the establishment of the Punjab National Bank. He died in 1929 due to severe wounds. He was honored with the name of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Hisar, Haryana.
The 30th of January is known for:
Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas – This day is remembered in honor of Mahatma Gandhi and the three Indian revolutionaries who lost their lives. On this day, the father of the nation was murdered, and the British government hanged three national heroes—Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar—to death (on March 23).
The final Sunday of January is known for:
World Leprosy Day is observed to avoid having children with leprosy-related disorders or disabilities that have developed over time and led to chronic illness that was not initially diagnosed. The main motive is to create awareness.
These are the important days to be remembered in the month of January.! Happy reading:)😊
