As everyone knows Jesus Christ birth date 25th December is celebrated as a special day. But being a writer I would like to add some more interesting facts about Christmas which makes all of us to know about this auspicious day in depth. So as usual I spent some hours to gather the unknown and interesting facts about Christmas.

STAR

As everyone knows Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the period of Herod King. The King Herod is an astrologer who predicts the birth of Christ as a bad sign for him and was very panic about it. So he decided to kill him once he was born. In the mean-time three wise men from east of Jerusalem reached Bethlehem and checked with the king Herod about Christ. But to their surprise they couldn’t find Christ there.

King Herod advised them to follow up the moving star above them to find the birth place of Jesus. The three wise men followed the star and finally it stops near the cow shuttle farm. Yes, the almighty was born in shuttle farm. So this history outcome results in hanging stars in every individual house during Christmas season. By doing this each and every individual thinks that Jesus Christ was born in their own place.

CHRISTMAS TREE

The tradition of decorating Christmas tree was first followed by pagans 2,000 years ago. Pagans used to worship this tree as a symbol of fertility. Between 1500s and 1600s people live in Latvia and other Eastern European countries began to decorate Christmas trees. Later on the Germans adopted this tradition.

Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband brought this tree culture into England in 1840’s as per the Cass. From the photography of royal family with Christmas tree made this tradition spread among everyone and later on to America. The Christmas tree typically takes 15 years to grow 6-7 feet height. The average year limit is 7 years approximately.

SANTA CLAUS

The idea of Santa Claus came from St. Nicholas who was a popular Christian bishop helped the needy and poor people. He used to provide gifts for the people on behalf of popular character Santa. After his death Nicholas was transformed into Santa who brings gifts during Christmas. According to fourth century saint was called as Sinter Clause in Dutch later on transformed into Santa Claus.

HANGING STOCKINGS

During saint period, while he was busy delivering gifts to the people he saw poor girls hanged upon their stocks for drying near the fire place. He felt pity for them and dropped around three bags of gold coins into their stocks. So from this history each and every individual followed the method of hanging stocks near the fire place, so that the Santa can drop their gifts (candy, fruits, things and so on) into it.

JINGLE BELL SONG

A song “One Horse Open Sleigh” was written by Lord Pierpont for thanks giving concert in church. Later on in 1857, the same song was republished as “Jingle bell” and it still holds favorite today, also considered as famous Christmas song.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS BEEN ILLEGAL

During the period of Puritans settled Boston, celebrating Christmas was made outlawed. From 1659 to 1681, anyone who tries to celebrate pagan day as Christmas will be punished with fine. After the revolutionary war, in 1789 the congress released the day 25th December as federal holiday and celebrating Christmas become legal till now.

CANDY

German-Swedish immigrant was the first one decorated the Christmas tree with candy canes in 1847. But in ancient times to avoid noisy environment and to carry out the long prayer session peacefully the kids were served with candies. This tradition is carried out till now where we couldn’t find Christmas without red-and-white stripes candy.

Yup I conclude here with a information: Still people in US and UK will be provided with a Santa Claus gift code. The parents need to share these codes with their children. So the children can write letters and emails to Santa asking for gifts using those codes.
