HOLD YOUR BREATH: CRIME ZONE!

Hi. Hope everyone is doing good. From my last blog about Tenali stories, I have received feedbacks from readers (especially friends). First, I would like to thank them for sharing their views, where I got an opportunity to understand the uniqueness of my blog. I have started writing blogs to expose my writing skills. So, I often choose topics which is new to the readers. For a change I wrote my last blog about Tenali’s folk where some felt nothing new in it and some really felt happy to read those stories (stir up their childhood memories). Going forward will try to share something new to keep the readers engaged. Points noted friends. Thanks!

Let’s get into topic. This time I would like to discuss about some unsolved murder cases. Have you ever heard about “Jack the ripper”? If no join with me to know about him.

Jack the ripper

Jack ripper was considered to be one of the English serial killer. There were 12 murders occurred between August and November of 1888. Jack ripper target was mostly women especially prostitutes. Out of 12 murders only five victims were killed by following same method. These murders occurred in or near the Whitechapel district of London’s East End.

The five victims who was affected by Jack: Mary Ann Nichols (found dead on August 31), Annie Chapman (found dead on September 8), Elizabeth Stride (found dead on September 30), Catherine Eddowes (found dead on September 30), and Mary Jane Kelly (found dead on November 9). Jack kills the victim by cutting their throat and their body was completely teared apart violently. By looking into victim’s body, cops analyzed that the killer might have good anatomical skills to carry out these cuts brutally. Out of five victim one victim was killed on the street side while she was seeking her customer.

At one time, even Jack sent courier to the cops with half of the kidney (which might be removed from the victim) along with a note to threaten the cops. There was also some information left in the news, cops were receiving numerous notes, mails from a person claiming himself as Jack the Ripper and regarding the murder’s committed. Though cops tried multiple methods and investigations to trace the killer, but unfortunately, they failed. This results in losing public’s faith, so London commissioner resigned from the post and accepted the defeat.

Why Jack ripper kills women? What was his motive?

As per study, it was concluded that Jack ripper was a doctor who was specialized in cancer department. His son had the habit of visiting East end of London frequently. During his visit he met Mary Jane Kelly (prostitute who was killed by Jack ripper) and had fallen for her. Because of her his son got infected by Syphilis (bacterial infection usually spread by sexual contact. If left untreated might affect heart, eyes, brain, and other nerve system) and died. Jack was devastated by his son’s death. So, he seeks revenge by killing the prostitutes in common to compensate his loss.

But still no paper evidence or any proofs was collected about his motive. These were considered to be assumption and left unsolved. Though cops received multiple letters (which was distasteful, scary, and brutal) from Jack but tracing his identity still remains nightmare. Once cops stopped investigating the case, Jack letters (sent for threatening cops) were vanished from the department. Might be taken by any of the investigating officers and stored as souvenir (a thing that is kept as a reminder of a person, place, or event).

Cape intruder

This case was not famous but still it remains strange while reading it. In 2005, the people who stayed in the affluent town (area where large houses, perfect landscaping, and expensive cars are seen. Describes about wealthy people or locality) Cape Elizabeth, Maine, US had experienced something strange. If any of the victim left their house door kept open at night, they could encounter a glimpse (partial view) of a stranger standing at the corner of their bedroom and staring at them. Before getting back to senses and realizing the situation the stranger escapes from the spot leaving no traces of his arrival. Everything in the house seems to be normal and nothing stolen.

During the cape intruder visit, no victim is injured neither killed. It seems, the intruder had weird habit of looking into other’s privacy. So, he creeps into victim’s bedroom and watched them while they were sleeping. With the help of the victim, cops tried to draw a rough sketch about cape intruder who was a man in his early 20’s. The sketch ruled the media and front page of the newspaper for a while.

Cops received n number of calls from different people. Each of them claimed that they had seen him before along with his name. Out of many calls, only two victims claimed same person as the cape intruder. After some cases reported about Cape Intruder in August, December, and February he never appeared again. No further information was available about his existence.

Glico-morinaga

There was a Japanese company called Ezaki Glico which is known for its pocky snacks (chocolate-coated biscuit sticks) and morinaga (known for its tasty Hi-Chew chewy fruit candy, Dars chocolate, Choco ball, and more). Katsuhisa Ezaki was the CEO of this company.

In 1984, two men with their face covered with masks entered Ezaki mom’s home and took the house key of Ezaki by bounding his mother. These two men then reached Ezaki’s house, tied up Ezaki’s wife and children. Both the men first cut off the telephone line. Then they caught Ezaki’s wife and children who were hiding in the bathroom. Ezaki’s wife tried to persuade the two men by offering them some money. But they refused to accept the money and they were looking for something else. They took Ezaki’s wife as a hostage at a warehouse. After that they demanded 1 billion yen and 100 kilograms of gold bars to set her free from hostage. But somehow Ezaki’s wife managed to escape from the warehouse. After Ezaki’s wife reached safely without any injury Glico thought everything is done and no more problems might occur.

After few weeks, the vehicles in the headquarters parking lot of Glico was set on fire. Also, there was a container filled with hydrochloric acid was parked near their warehouse which was located in Ibaraki, along with a threatening letter addressing to Glico. The letter seemed to be sent from a person or group who called themselves as “The Monster with 21 faces.” This name was derived from one of the Japanese detective series. The letter reads as follows, “One of the products of your (Glico) company was laced (flavored) with potassium cyanide. You have no other choice other than stopping the sale of that product from selling in the market.” This results in $21 million loss for Glico. Also, 450 part-time workers lost their job due to layoff.

Glico was continuously targeted by Monster’s group for many months and then Monster decided to choose next target. Before that Monster’s sent out a last letter to Glico stating that “We Forgive You Glico.”

After letting go of Glico, the monster’s started targeting food companies such as Marudai Ham, House Foods Corporation, and Fujiya. In order to stop their aggressive pressure over Marudai company, the monsters had demanded to pay them some money through one of their employees via train. This case was already reached cops, so they had disguised as employee and went to hand over the money to the monster’s group. They even try to follow them but unfortunately lost them in the mid-way.

While handing over the money, the cops able to notice the appearance of the monster who was a man with perfect body, short haircut (properly curled hair using gel which remains settled for a long time), and his eyes looks like a fox. From that moment cops called him as “Fox eyed man.” Though cops got second chance to reach the suspect (monster) but lost them.

The suspect continued to harass both the cops and industry CEO’s for a year. After a year, Police Superintendent Yamamoto committed suicide by setting himself on fire. As he was ashamed for not catching Fox eyed man after many attempts of chasing him.

Five days after the death of the Superintendent, final letter was sent by Fox eyed man to the media. The letter reads as follows: Yamamoto of Shiga Prefecture was died. How stupid he must be? We had no place to hide and no one to help us in Shiga. Yoshino (lucky field) or Shikata (it cannot be helped) who could have died? For past one year and five months they shouldn’t have left bad guys like us to be free. What they were all doing? We salute Yamamoto who died as a Man for not capturing us and decided to give our condolence to him.

So, from now on we resolute to stop torturing the food companies. If someone reports any torture case, then probably it would be not us. They were some people started copying our style to commit crime. Beware of it. As we were bad guys. We have more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life by Monster with 21 faces.” That was the final note sent by monster and they disappeared forever. Identity of fox eyed man remain unknown.

Leopold and Loeb

Next in list is about perfect crime of Leopold and Loeb which occurred in Chicago. This case was solved easily since the suspect left the evidence in the crime spot. Leopold and Loeb were the two smart, rich, and highly favored college students.

They both always wished to commit a crime/murder just to experience thrill behind it and to prove their superiority by committing perfect crime. They spent nearly seven months to plan and to execute the perfect murder.

In May 1924, they finally got an opportunity to kidnap a boy Bobby Franks (14 years old) who was the cousin of Loeb. They both went to see him and offered him ride back home. On the way, they repeatedly attacked Bobby using heavy object until he dies.

They both went to dispose the body unfortunately made flaws like, Leopold dropped his glasses in the crime spot, they use special hinge (a type of joint that attaches two things together, which is very rare only three people in Chicago use it) was left as proof in the spot.

Through which cops identified the suspect behind the Bobby’s death and arrested the culprit. Both of them claims that this was their first crime which was did to experience thrill. As per law, culprits were imprisoned.

During their punishment period, Loeb was killed in the prison on January 28, 1936, by inmate James Day, who claimed that Loeb had made sexual advances on him. Whereas Leopold served 34 years in the prison and released on parole in 1958. He died at the age 67 due to heart-attack.

There are many more cases which we haven't come across so far. Crime and murder has no end till now. Though method of killing is varying from time to time. We can find brutal and reasonless murder still happening all over the world. Unknown victims are dying in pain;....!

Will stop here and come up with new topic soon.:)
