Hi everyone, hope my previous blog given you all an idea about basic psychology. From my past interview experience, I would like to share basic ideas of CMS.
What is CMS? It is the abbreviated form of Content Management System. It helps in managing and modifying the digital content. It plays a typical role in supporting multiple users in all collaborative environments and helps in maintaining the documentation with different styles of rules as per the work flow. It is formally related with website or a part of it so called as web content management systems.
Whereas web content includes all kinds of text; graphics; videos; audios; photos; programming codes and so on. CMS render their support by separation of content and presentation.
CMS comprises of two major components as follows: CMA and CDA. CMA (Content management application) – it acts as the front end user interface which allows the user and certain limited expertise to add; modify; and remove content from the website without the knowledge of the web creation admin. CDA (Content delivery application) – it helps in compiling the content and updating the websites.
Common features of CMS:
Search Engine Optimization
It involves strategies, techniques and tactics to increase the amount of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP) which includes Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines.
Integrated Documentation
It involves the method of maintaining the historical details; word document can be embedded within a spreadsheet. Helps in ensuring highest quality while delivering the projects.
Online Documentation
It is a topic-oriented, procedural or reference information delivered through computer software. It is a form of user assistance by providing software application and helps in presenting the information on wide range of subjects.
Modularity
It generally involves the method of breaking down larger system into smaller parts but in case of CMS it also helps in iteration of components across the modules.
Extensibility
It is the ability provided to the developer for adding upon additional functionality if required.
User and Group Functionality
CMS creates user account for each individual user and add them into one group at least. But the authorizing limitation of the user varies based on the need or requirements.
Template support for changing design
Default template creation will be available. In addition to that they will be an editable template option to choose the design based on our presenting nature.
Installation and upgrade wizard
Installation of CMS using GUI wizard includes the following steps: Insert the CMS CD into drive of the server where software need to be installed. Installation will be done automatically and by accessing the downloaded CMS files, helps in manual installation of wizard. Upgrading of wizard occurs based on the guides and need of the server.
Integrated audit logs
It is a king of accounting tool in general, but here it plays vital role in maintaining the account details; engaging with the update; requirement schedules; helps out the user to experience better outcomes without any blockage.
Compliance with various accessibility frameworks and standards, such as WAI-ARIA – CMS uses the best tool to maintain accessibility where the WAI-ARIA (Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications) is the technical tool used for increasing the accessibility of web pages, dynamic content, user interface components developed with Ajax, HTML, and Java Script so on.
Reduced need to code from scratch
It reduces the method of recreating the coding or content in the websites. By the system of compiling we can add or delete the unwanted contents as per the needs.
Unified user experience
It support many points of interaction, delivering content and information as well as actions.
It allows editors to track each other's edits, correct mistakes, and defend against vandalism and spamming.
Edit permission management
It helps to manage permissions and can assign or remove all object permissions.
Indexing and search
It is the process of a collecting parses and stores data for use by the search engine.
Format or style management through themes
Two types of templates used (Front-end Templates and Back-end Templates). Styles are applied based on the screen user and needs.
Web-based publishing – Web publishing is the process of publishing original content on the Internet. The process includes building and uploading websites, updating the associated webpages, and posting content to these webpages online. Web publishing comprises of personal, business, and community websites in addition to e-books and blog.
Other Type of CMS:
Digital asset management system helps to manage content with clear author or ownership. It involves documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, and scientific data. Certain company use CMS for storage purpose; for publishing documentation; to control; and revise content.
Component content management systems (CCMS), helps to manage content at software level rather than maintaining pages or articles. It is used in technical communication where the content can be reused. Most popularly used CMS is WordPress.
