Learning human mind and behavior we don’t need any kind of course completion. Reading blogs; articles; and self-studying about psychology helps in better way to understand.

Yes, during my spare time I spent few hours in reading “What is basic psychology?” The article I read screwed me up to write this blog which will be helpful to understand psychology bit easier in my way.

In general, when we are interested to gain knowledge on certain topic it is advisable to start up from the history. The term dualism (psychology) was first introduced by French philosopher Rene Descartes in early 1800s, trace of Greek. It was confidently believed that brain and body as two entities which interacts to form human experience.

At times physiology and psychology are meant the same meaning. But later on the philosophers came up with a description that physiology is studied based on logic and observations whereas psychology is different and ultimately based on study of human thought and behavior.

During early days, people believed children were smaller version of adults. But fairly childhood plays an important role and unique part of life. Studying of children psychology is really a very big task which needs separate blog stating developmental psychology of childhood related to genetic effect and the environment.

Behavioral psychology is a kind of approach helped in understanding the human behavior and other animals. Mostly it is believed that behaviors of human are just the reflection or stimulated by of external source.

Some theories of Psychology include the following:

Freud's Theory of Psycho sexual Development: The author explains the mindset of a childhood takes place during five psycho-sexual stages: oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital. These stages directly reflect on the fixation of libido on different area of the body.

Erikson's Theory of Psychosocial Development: This theory stimulates the mindset of individual from childhood to adulthood which has direct impact from external factors; parents; and society. It also has impact on personality development.

Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development: This theory shows the cognitive (logic thinking; attention; memory; selective decision; opposing and so on) development of the human.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: This hierarchy needs are explained in the form of pyramidal structure comprises of deficiency needs (physiological; safety; belonging and love; esteem need) and growth needs (cognitive; aesthetic; self- actualization; and transcendence).

Kohl-berg's Theory of Moral Development: This theory involves three levels: preconventional (child's sense of morality is externally controlled and they believe the rules of parents and teachers, and they judge an action based on its consequences.); conventional (adults judge the morality of actions by comparing them to society's views and expectations); and post-conventional (a person's sense of morality is defined in terms of more abstract principles and values).

The Big 5 Theory of Personality: It involves five traits as follows - extraversion (also often spelled extroversion: how outgoing and social a person is), agreeableness (individual behavioral characteristics that are perceived as kind, sympathetic, cooperative, warm, and considerate), openness (it indicates how open-minded a person is imaginative and trying new things), conscientiousness how a person controls, regulates, responsible and reliable); and neuroticism (involves feelings as anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, depressed mood, and loneliness.).

Social psychology is a field includes bystander effect, attitudes, and person perception.

Learning about the basics of psychology will be more interesting and helpful to analyze people view; their perception; so on.
